Moments in Time
by Jeff Ross
I watched a small bird dancing,
In the fine mist of the sprinklers on a hot spring day.
The bird began to wander to and fro,
It’s neck bobbing with each step,
Occasionally stopping to peck the ground.
How I loved the time I spent,
Watching the bird live this day.
Sigh, eventually the bird wandered away.
And I thought in my sorrow,
For I miss the bird’s company.
The bird could never be happy,
Were it made to stay with me.
It is an actuality, the bird must be free.
Free to wander and live the day.
And I am happy for the time we shared.
